Hotel Information

We are busy planning the 2020 Annual Meeting in Athens, Georgia.  To our surprise, downtown rates for lodging, even this far in advance are relatively high, so we encourage meeting participants to plan their stays early and consider the options available.  We selected two hotels that were willing to work with us on group rates.  For those of you who would like to stay longer and explore Athens on your own, we also blocked a number of hotel rooms for Friday evening, following all scheduled events.

  1. Best Choice for Ease, Comfort and Convenience:

Hyatt Place/Athens Downtown; 412 N Thomas Street, Athens, GA.

This hotel is attached  to the conference location at the Classic Center via a covered walkway.  Rooms are large, modern with lots of natural light (see photos below), and a nice workout facility, additionally it appears there is free breakfast each morning with good offerings.  Staying here, you can be at the social and meeting rooms within five minutes.  Room rates are @ $149/night, parking rates are $10/night.  We have a room block as follows: (1) Wednesday, 02/12/2020 @ 125 rooms; (2) Thursday, 02/13/2020  @ 125 rooms; and (3) Friday, 02/14/2020 @ 20 rooms.  For booking, use link or call 706-425-1800 and use group link: G-BT9G.

  1. Affordable Choice:

Holiday Inn; 197 E Broad Street, Athens, GA.

The Holiday Inn is located approximately 4-5 blocks/0.43-mile from the Classic Center, where meeting events will be held.  Blocked room rates are $105/night, free parking included with room.  We have a room block as follows: (1) Wednesday, 02/12/2020 @ 80 rooms; (2) Thursday, 02/13/2020  @ 80 rooms; and (3) Friday, 02/14/2020 @ 80 rooms. For booking, use link or call 706-549-4433 and use group link: BDN.

There are other hotels (Hilton Garden Inn, The Graduate, Hotel Indigo, and Homewood Suites) all within walking distance of the conference center as well.  These hotels were either unwilling to reserve a block of rooms or were unwilling to negotiate rates at this time.  Note that if you are not staying within walking distance of the Classic Center, daily parking rates are $8 to park at the venue.
